Creality K2 Plus Combo (CFS) FAQ

What is the difference between the K2 Plus and the K2 Plus Combo?

The K2 Plus is the standalone printer. The K2 Plus Combo includes the CFS (Creality Filament System)—a smart dry-box and material handler that enables automatic color switching and filament backup.

How many colors can the K2 Plus Combo print at once?

Out of the box, the Combo supports 4 colors. However, the system is expandable. You can daisy-chain up to four CFS units to a single K2 Plus to print with a massive 16-color palette.

Does the CFS act as a dry box?

Yes. The CFS is an airtight container equipped with a real-time humidity and temperature display. It uses desiccant packs to keep your filament dry during long prints, which is critical for materials like Nylon (PA-CF) or PETG.

What is "Filament Backup" or "Automatic Refill"?

This is a "peace of mind" feature. If you have two spools of the same filament in the CFS, the printer will automatically switch to the second spool when the first one runs out, ensuring your 20-hour print doesn't fail while you're asleep.

Can I use any brand of filament in the CFS?

Yes, the CFS supports most standard 1kg spools (diameter 197–202mm). It features RFID recognition for Creality-branded filaments to auto-configure settings, but you can manually input settings for any third-party brand (Sunlu, eSUN, etc.) via the touchscreen.

Are there filaments I should NOT use in the CFS?

Do not use TPU or damp BVOH/PVA in the CFS. Because these materials are flexible or soft, they can buckle inside the internal feeding tubes. For TPU, we recommend using the printer’s rear-mounted single spool holder.

Does the K2 Plus Combo support cardboard spools?

Yes, the CFS is designed to handle cardboard spools efficiently. If you find a specific brand's cardboard spool is slipping, we recommend snapping on a simple 3D-printed "spool ring" adapter for better grip.

How does the K2 Plus handle "Filament Poop" (Waste)?

Like most multicolor printers, the K2 Plus purges a small amount of filament during a color change to ensure colors don't bleed. This is ejected through a dedicated "chute" at the back of the machine.
